Eating healthily in London is hard, fact. Many of us struggle to prepare nutritious meals for ourselves or find really healthy lunch options, and when it comes to making sacrifices to manage a busy schedule, breakfast is usually the first to go.
There are several reasons why skipping breakfast is bad for your health. Firstly, if you don't 'break the fast' of sleep by eating breakfast when you wake up, your metabolic rate slows down and your body begins to burn fewer calories. Skipping breakfast also causes your insulin levels to drop, which can lead to dizziness and headaches in the short term and heart problems or diabetes in the long term. Your energy levels will drop anyway as your body struggles to function on a small energy supply. Not eating breakfast in the morning also makes you more likely to binge on fatty, high calorie food later in the day.
Eating breakfast makes you more alert at the start of the day, kick starts your metabolism and can help you maintain a healthier weight over time.
