Last month, I co-hosted the World Cancer Research Fund UK 'Big Fruitea Party' launch along with Tabl. This summer fundraising campaign encourages people to host healthy and fruit afternoon tea parties to fundraise for the WCRF and to help spread awareness about the benefits of a healthy diet. WCRF helps by providing a free fundraising kit, including tea party essentials, such as branded bunting, invites and cake decorations to help make your party a success. The WCRF hosted their Big Fruitea Party launch at their elegant Bloomsbury offices, inviting healthy foodies and innovative brands to come along and bring a favourite dish to share. The offices were decked out in kitsch décor and the pastel gingham fabric covered tables were covered with tiers of amazing and inventive sweet treats. The dish of the day was Nicola Giles-Rowling from Escape and Bake with her Raspberry, Pistachio and Lemon Tart (see picture). I brought along a fresh and savoury offering of Cucumber, Smoked Eel, Tomato and Whipped Goat’s Curd Canapés as a healthier take on cucumber sandwiches. You can find this recipe on my blog here.
This feast was washed down with lots of tea, provided by Tea Studio and Lois & the Living Teas, and as the afternoon continued, some non-alcoholic "Pimm's" and delicious alcohol-free wine from Botonique. The event was fittingly hosted in conjunction with Tabl, a new social hub for foodies, which helps connect those hosting pop ups, supper clubs and food adventures with potential guests.
The afternoon was filled with sampling delicious cakes and sandwiches (inspiring countless recipe ideas…) and getting to spend time with like-minded foodies and all in aid of a charity that I hold close to my heart.
At the end of the party, we were all sent home with amazing goodie bags, featuring contributions from Nut Blend, Squirrel Sisters, Little Bird Kefir, and Plenish along with some branded memorabilia and information from WCRF to help promote their Big Fruitea campaign.
